Vintage illustration diagram showing a Broca Galvanometer. A very sensitive type of *galvanometer that is a *moving-magnet instrument. It has two magnetic needles, NS and N′S′, made as nearly equal as possible and suspended on the same axis in opposition. When the magnets are deflected from their stable point the restoring couples on them due to the earth’s magnetic field act in opposite directions with a very small resultant couple. 1900s reference to engineering.
