Frome is an historic market town in north east Somerset, in the heart of the West Country of England. Frome was traditionally founded by Saint Aldhelm in 685 AD, a settlement growing up around the river Frome valley. Frome has many historic buildings and an impressive historic centre. Historic streets such as Gentle and Cheap streets. The Methodist Rook Lane Chapel, the almshouse known as the Blue House. The church of Saint John the Baptist, restored over the centuries, is claimed to be on the site where Saint Aldhelm founded the town. Frome today has a vibrant arts scene and annual festival that takes place every summer.
