Verdun, France Trail des Tranchées, March 24, 2024. participants in the bayonets (14km) and trenches (18km) trails. 1000 participants ! The race starts at the Douaumont ossuary in the Meuse. The event is called the Trail des Trenches, it is the anniversary of the 10th edition. The organizer gives the start of several races spread out in the morning. The first competitors left at 7:30 a.m., to complete a 55km event, in the rain and with freezing weather, it was 3° Celsius. In total there are 3128 participants. The different routes are magnificent, they cross the battlefields of the great war of 1914-1918. The runners pass in front of all the famous monuments of the Battle of Verdun which left tens of thousands dead. An event steeped in history, a tribute to the soldiers who fell during the First World War.
