President Ford’s World War II naval service involved combat duty aboard the light aircraft carrier Monterey in the Pacific Theater.The US aircraft carrier was first spotted entering the Mediterranean earlier in June. Washington has maintained an extended carrier presence in the region since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
