On the island of El Hierro, which has not yet been overrun by mass tourism, lava caves can still be admired in their original state. It is an experience to descend, accompanied by a local guide, into the interior of the island, spaces that are more than 1 million years old and only inhabited by the island's primeval inhabitants at a time many centuries behind us.
