Pictured is a turkey vulture flying over the Marsh Trail in Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge. The turkey vulture, binomial name Cathartes aura, is a scavenger and feeds almost exclusively on carrion. The turkey vulture received its common name from the resemblance of the adult's bald red head and its dark plumage to that of the male wild turkey. In the background is blurred vegetation.
