The Himalayas, or Himalaya, is a mountain range separating the plains of the Indian subcontinent from the Tibetan Plateau. The range has some of Earth’s highest peaks, including the highest, Mount Everest. Trekking in Nepal exposes you to a diversity in climate, terrain and culture. At lower elevations, you will be walking through jungle-like terrain as you hike higher, you will encounter rice fields, canyons, forests and waterfalls. From many spots along the trails, you will also view the Himalayan mountains. Trekkers pass through peaceful Hindu and Buddhist villages where they can visit teahouses, find food and lodging, and purchase handcrafted gifts. Trekking allows foreigners to experience the fascinating culture of Nepal.
