Tinder fungus (Polyporus), or parasitic tinder fungus on the bark of a tree. The tinder fungus is a perennial fungus. Often, the fruit bodies of tinder fungi appear on the surface of the tree several years after infection and are placed on the trunk one above the other in the form of shelves. After some time, the infected tree dies, but even after its death, the tinder fungus does not stop living, absorbing nutrients from the wood of the dried tree.
