Oostakker, June 2023. The statue of Mieke Vlaai commemorates the old local costum of housewives who made pies at home and took them to the bakery for baking. Vlaai is a kind of bread pudding that was originally baked to get rid of leftovers of bread and pastries such as gingerbread or gingerbread.
