The Pahomie Hermitage is one of the most monastic settlements in Oltenia and Romania, being built in the Buila Mountains, about 30 km from Ramnicu Valcea and 7 km above the Iezer Hermitage. According to an old inscription, the founders are & x22;Pahomie hermit& x22; and & x22;Sava outlaw& x22; in 1520. The hermitage is built in a magnificent natural setting, in a glade at the base of a large rock, from which the ivy flows.
