The 22 meter high National Monument in the Willemspark district of The Hague (1896) was created by the Belgian sculptors Jacques and Joseph Jaquet. On the huge pedestal are four statues and a group of statues. On top is the Dutch Virgin as a symbol of Dutch independence (1813)
