Walking through the center of Rome it is possible to come across a rich series of sacred shrines or "Madonnelle di Roma", multiple sacred images, of a religious nature, which date back to past times. It is possible to admire them at the corners of ancient buildings, streets and alleys. They date back to the seventeenth, eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries and were made with different techniques, shapes and structures: fresco, oil on canvas, mosaic, marble, terracotta, with high relief in stucco, with relief on marble, with a stucco, wooden or sheet metal frame, with tabernacle, with canopy, and are often accompanied by small lanterns.
