The historic French War Memorial built in 1937 and inaugurated in 1938 by the French Governor of Pondicherry is dedicated to the sacrifice of the French Indian soldiers during World War-I. It is located on the marine drive in Pondicherry, just opposite of the present day Mahatma Gandhi statue.
