World's first double helix bridge opened in Singapore on 24 April 2010, and is officially named The Helix. Inspired by the helicoidal structure of DNA, the pedestrian bridge stretches 280 meters over the bay and includes a computer-controlled lighting system to set the mood. Behind it is the near-completed Marina Bay Sands integrated resort, Singapore's 2nd integrated resort which has started operations.
