The Round City is an independent landscape outside the south wall of the Summer Palace in Beijing. The main structure, the Hall of Received Light, is a spacious building with a double-eaved roof. Inside there is a 1.6m tall Buddha carved from a single piece of pure white jade inlaid with precious stones, which was a tribute to Guangxu Emperor (1871 – 1908) from a Khmer monk. The Eight-Nation Alliance damaged the statue's left arm in the Battle of Beijing in 1900.
