The Evangelical Church Hallstatt was built on 30th of October 1785 as a prayer house. These days, the Evangelical Church, a few steps from the historical market square, also regularly invites you to cultural concerts. Especially in the summer months, numerous musicians from all over the world come to the World Heritage town Hallstatt to perform numerous pieces in the church. At the portal to the church there is a board with additional information on the history in German and English. Hallstatt is a small town in the district of Gmunden, in the Upper Austria. Situated between the southwestern shore of Hallstatter See and the steep slopes of the Dachstein massif, the town lies in Salzkammergut region, on the national road linking Salzburg and Graz. Hallstatt is known for its production of salt, dating back to prehistoric times, and gave its name to the archaeological Hallstatt culture. Hallstatt is at the core of the `Hallstatt-Dachstein Salzkammergut Cultural Landscape` declared as one of the World Heritage Sites in Austria by UNESCO in 1997. Austria, Gmunden, Europe
