Gamkaskloof is a valley through the Swartberg Mountains, accessed halfway along the Swartberg Pass. A dirt road was built through 37km of rugged mountain scenery, ending in the steep Elands Pass to give access to the little settlement of Die Hel, which was isolated for many years.
