The dungeons of the Chillon castle on Lac Leman in Switzerland made famous in Lord Byron's poem The Prisoner of Chillon. In these dungeons François Bonivard, a supporter of the Reformation was held prisoner by the Duke of Savoy from 1530 until 1536. Lord Byron's poem speaks of him.
