‘The Dancer’ was produced by Austrian artist Gustav Klimt between 1917-1918 and features a woman wearing a floral dress depicted against an embellished background imitating Japanese wood block printing. Although Klimt has included highly ornate motifs, he has also depicted the bare torso of the woman, grounding the painting in the fine art tradition of the female form.
