Pictured is the Courtyard of Pilate in the Basilica of Saint Stephen in Bologna, Italy. The Basilica is an ecclesiastical complex of seven churchs. The intricate brickwork of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre is the backdrop for Pilate's bowl, an eighth century Lombard basin where Pilate was alleged to have washed his hands of the condemnation of Jesus. A potted sago palm and common olive tree are also seen.
