Kenikir in Javanese, or ulam raja as it is known in Sumatra, has long been consumed as a vegetable. Researchers say that this indigenous vegetable plant has long been used as medicine. Kenikir has the internationally valid scientific name Cosmos caudatus, Kunth. The wikipedia.org site states that this tropical plant originating from Latin America and Central America grows wild and is easily found in Florida, the United States, as well as in Southeast Asian countries, including Indonesia.
