The common tern (scientific name: Sterna hirudo) is a migratory summer bird belonging to the gull family and the tern genus. The body size is slightly small, about 35 centimeters. The top of the head is black, and the back, shoulders, and wings are covered with gray or blue-grey feathers of a mouse. The neck, waist, and tail are covered with feathers and the tail is white. The outer tail feathers are elongated and the outer side is black. The lower body is white, and the chest and abdomen are stained with grape gray brown. Primary flight feathers are dark gray, with silver gray black on the outer edge. The tail is deeply forked.
