Pictured is The Cloisters, also known as the Met Cloisters, a museum in Fort Tyrone Park in Washington Heights, Manhattan, New York City. The Cloisters is governed by the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Cloisters specializes in Medieval art and architecture with a focus on the Romanesque and Gothic periods. The Cloisters officially opened in 1938. The site, funds for the construction of the museum, and the core art collection created by George Grey Barnard were all provided by John Davison Rockefeller Jr.
