Spreng. is an evergreen shrub plant of the Magnoliaceae family, with a grayish brown bark and dense branching Buds, tender branches, petioles, and pedicels are densely covered with yellow brown hairs Leaves leathery, narrowly elliptical or obovate elliptical The flowers are upright, pale yellow with edges sometimes red or purple, and have a sweet and rich aroma The fruit is ovoid or spherical The flowering period is from March to May, and the fruiting period is from July to August. Because its flowers bloom and its buds do not fully bloom, it is called the "smiling flower".
