This bee used to be fairly common in the southeast of the Netherlands, but has declined sharply in recent years, not only in the Netherlands but throughout Europe. According to the information I have, it has now become fairly rare. I saw this in the garden in the summer and only later did I realize that it was quite unique. I hope he stays in the garden and finds a good place to hibernate and provide many offspring.
