The appearance of the flowers of the papaya plant, also known as Carica papaya, is unique and beautiful. The male flowers have a gourd-like shape and are usually yellow-green, red, or light red in color. They are commonly clustered together with many small flowers, resembling a string of beads and are also referred to as meat spikes. The female flowers, on the other hand, have a bell-like shape with shorter petals and typically grow alone at the end of a short branch. The female flowers have a spherical ovary on top, and three protruding stamens while the male flowers do not have any distinctive stamens. The overall appearance is very refreshing and pleasant.
