In its history, the Hagia Sophia has been a Christian Church, a Muslim Mosque, and a museum. Churches are typically decorated with images of people. Mosques are typically decorated with geometric art and Arabic Calligraphy. This photo shows the altar which faces the holy city of Mecca. There are Christian Mosaics that are covered with white sheets. Two medallions with Arabic Calligraphy say the names "Allah" (God) and "Muhammed" (Allah's Messenger).
