Pictured is a four paneled mural by Garland native artist Johnny Edwards titled 'Texas Mythos Misremembered'. The mural is rich with vibrant color and a kind of dark humor. The skyline of the City of Dallas, the space ship reminiscent of Star Trek, 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind', and the life consuming plants reminiscent of the 'Little Shop of Horrors are all a bit dark. Then there is a Pegasus horse high in the sky leading a flight of equines, and a dead cowboy and Texas Longhorns seemingly strangled by a deadly vine. The mural is another piece of outdoor art donated to the City of Garland by Robert A. Smith, who is a Garland-based commercial real estate developer and property manager specializing in downtown redevelopment and revitalization. In 2019, Smith invested and promoted public art in Garland by commissioning numerous murals and sculptures for display in downtown Garland. He also created an open art space known as 506 Art in the downtown Garland Square.
