The dam was built in 2016. It substituted the old rubber dam that did not withstand the desert climate of Arizona. In this photo the hydraulic steel gates are lowered to regulate the surface of Tempe Town Lake after heavy spring rains. In the background: the pedestrian bridge, railway bridges, business buildings, Hayden Butte or A-Butte, and Hayden Mill.
