Professor Tamar Brosh of the Open University of Haifa makes a funny observation at the Third International Conference of Jewish Humor in Tel Aviv Israel in 1989. In the background is a poster poking fun at Yassir Arafat the then leader of the PLO and then the Palestinian Authority. She observed that the Israel Foreign Ministry devised, then withdrew the poster ridiculing Arafat. It reads, "Having problems with your neighbors? We are experts in sabotage, murder, demolition, kidnapping. PLO---our results speak for themselves." The word Ganev is Hebrew for thief, a derivation of the Yiddish word goniff.
