Swans are Poland's largest pale-footed birds. They are water birds, having a very majestic appearance due to their white color and distinctive silhouette with a long neck. They are heavy, making their soaring flight lack elegance. In the Royal Baths these birds reside mainly in winter, as they have an abundance of food and unfrozen parts of the ponds here. The mute swan is a species that is particularly bad at feeding on bread, as a result of which it can contract a condition called "angel wing."
