Sultan Ahmed Mosque (Turkish: Sultan Ahmet Camii) is a mosque located in Istanbul, Turkey. It is often called the Ahmediya or the Blue Mosque. It got that name because of the 20,000 blue tiles that cover the interior of the dome.It was built in the period between 1609 and 1616, during the reign of Sultan Ahmed I.
