The Bishop Arts District is a small shopping and entertainment district in north Oak Cliff, immediately southwest of Downtown Dallas. It was originally developed as warehouses and shops in the 1920s. Stevie Ray Vaughn was born in Dallas and was a rocking powerhouse of a guitarist who gave blues a burst of momentum in the `80s, with influence still felt long after his tragic death at age 35 in a helicopter crash.
