Steaming hole in the Caldeiras of São Miguel island, in the Azores used to cook the most famous dish of the Azores: Cozido das Caldeiras. Cozido is a popular mixed-meat stew across Portugal, made with beef, chicken, pork and cabbage. The unique Azorean twist is that they cook theirs in volcano steam (Cozido das Caldeiras literally translates as Cozido of the volcano).
