Pictured is a statue of Saint Pio of Pietrelcino in the church of San Bartolo in San Gimgnano, Italy. The small church is a place of Catholic worship. It was built in 1173 and underwent many changes until the society of San Bartolo was established in 1572 and gave its name to the church. Better known as Padre Pio, Saint Pio of Pietrelcina was an Italian Franciscan Capuchin friar, priest, stigmatist, and mystic. He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church, celebrated on 23 September.
