Pictured is a painted limestone statue of King Djoser inside the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo, Egypt. Djoser was the first king of the 3rd Dynasty. It is the oldest known life-sized Egyptian statue. It was found in the serdab of his Step Pyramid, where today a plaster replica stands in place of the orginal. n The museum was built in 1901 to a design by French architect Marcel Dourgnon. In 2022, the museum is due to be superseded by the newer and larger Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza.
