Pictured is a statue of a cherub with a large waterfowl in a small fountain at the entrance to Villa Cipressi in Varenna on Lake Como. Villa Cipressi is a majestic complex of buildings and gardens built between 1400 and 1800. After passing through a series of illustrious owners, it became a property of the municipality of Varenna. In addition to it's renowned hotel and restaurant, it has a terraced lakefront garden open to the public with an entrance fee.
