This photo shows massive stalagmites rising from the cavern floor in Lechuguilla Cave. These spleothems, formed by mineral deposits from water dripping through the cave ceiling over millions of years, reach for the high ceiling. Lechuguilla Cave is located in Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico, and is known for its unique speleothems and sulfuric acid speleothems that are not found anywhere else in the world.
