The south transept entrance to St Magnus cathedral, in Kirkwall, the capital of the Orkney islands, Scotland. This is the most northerly cathedral in the British isles, and is sometimes referred to as, the light in the north . This Romanesque, sandstone church dates back to 1137, and was renovated extensively between 1913 and 1930. The graveyard is to the south and east of the building.
