Like many old cities, San Francisco`s early days had a lot of prostitutes, and unfortunately, not all voluntary. Chinatowns St. Louis Alley was reputed to be the location of one of the worst sex-slave trades. Woman, and girls, would be auctioned off, completely naked. Fortunately that is now all just history as more legitimate businesses establish themselves here, as seen in September 2021.
