Within the small township of Bukit Mertajam resides this century-old church, which has quite a history and retains a respectable patronage. The original church was constructed in 1888 but was quarantined during the post-war fifties as it came under governmental scrutiny for suspicion of communist links. A new church was built in the vicinity in 1957. On its grounds is the stone of Cherok Tok Kun with ancient Pali inscriptions dating back to the fourth century. The Saint Anne's feast held...
