Is a lake located at an altitude of 3812 m. Since 1862 it holds the world record for the highest waterway in the world for heavy vessels. It is also the largest lake in South America, with an area of 9710 km².Located in the Andean Plateau Altiplano, surrounded by the Andes Cordilleras on the border between Peru and Bolivia, Lake Titicaca has an average depth of 140 to 180 m , reaching a maximum of 280 m. The western part of the lake belongs to the Peruvian region of Puno, and the eastern part of the Bolivian department of La Paz.
