Pictured is a spatterdock with its reflection in the wetlands next to Shark Valley Trail in the Everglades National Park in Florida. The binomial name is Nuphar advena. It is also called the cow lily or yellow pond-lily. Spatterdock was long used in traditional medicine, with the root applied to the skin and the root and seeds eaten for a variety of conditions.
