The Southern Cassowary (Casuarius casuarius) is found in the dense rainforests of Queensland, Australia, as well as New Guinea. They are considered Vulnerable to extinction as humans continue to encorach on their habitat. This one was photographed at Koala Gardens in Kuranda, Queensland. Captive breeding provides an insurance population for this species.
