Architectural detail of the base side of the Flatiron Building, from 22nd Street. It is an example of Beaux-Arts architecture and was one of the tallest skyscrapers in New York City when completed in 1902. The facades of the upper floors are intricately decorated with terra cotta ornaments and the building is crowned by rounded cornices.
