Dianne Feinstein had many firsts in her long career going all the way back to 1969 when she was elected to the San Franciscos Board of Supervises,then becoming the cities first female Board President in 1978. With the assassination of then Mayor George Moscone later that same year she was propelled to the Mayors office,becoming so popular she was then elected the maximum two more terms. In 1992 she won a special election to the state Senate,becoming the first female Jewish Senator in the country. In November 2022 she became the longest serving female Senator with 31 years. It is fitting that fleet week coincides with her final service,as then Mayor Dianne Feinstein brought it to San Francisco in 1981. Her Lying in State is under the Rotunda of San Francisco City Hall held most solemnly on 4 October 2023.
