Pictured is a seated Arhat made of cast iron with traces of pigment circa 1300-1450 on display in the Kimbell Museum of Art in Fort Worth, Texas. In the Buddhist faith, an arhat is one of a group of perfected beings who were the original disciples of Shakyamuni Buddha. Like bodhisattvas, arhats have attained perfection but delayed entering nirvana and becoming buddhas so that they may aid others in seeking enlightenment.
