Constructed in simple gothic style, the Village Church was a much later addition to New Lanark. Following a petition from the villagers to the Gourock Ropework Company to grant them some land, the church was constructed in 1898 with funds raised by public subscription. Following the closure of the mills and the decline of the population, the Church was sold by the church of Scotland to New Lanark. It was used as a Village Hall until 2013 when it was mothballed until a suitable long term use can be found and the building restored.
