It depicts Virgil Sansing of the 359th Fighter Group in a P-51B shot down on June 20th, 1944 while attacking a rail yard in Chateau-Thierry France. He later escaped with the help of the French underground. Roy Grinnell was born in 1933 and died in 2019. Roy won numerous art awards in both aviation art and western Native American art.
