Salt Lick Point Land and Water Reserve is a 600-acre site owned by the Village of Valmeyer. Named for one of the highest points in Monroe County, at more than 810-feet elevation, Salt Lick Point is named for the salt wells of the area; salt production was one of the first major industries in the area. The reserve protects upland forests and contains a number of hill prairies and limestone glades. Several rare, threatened and endangered species exist on the reserve.
